You know you’ve heard it before… “stop and smell the roses” To me, that phrase is played out… Time to remix… So, I’m askin’ where the roses at, Yo!

Yesterday was my day… that’s right… My day… My day with my family… with my smokin’ hot wife, Kimberly and our wonderful boys… It was fun and productive. We hung out, went to church, kicked it in the backyard, even did some things around the house… It was great. It was most definitely what I needed. One Hundred.

Not many realize what all goes into running the biz and building my brand.

I haven’t missed a daily post since January until yesterday; at some point you must take a moment for you and the fam. It is critical to your sanity and your survival.

I have so much going on growing my empire… those of you with me, know what you’re putting in and it gets deeper before it lets up. Believe that. Stay strong… all you are doing will be worth it in time. You are growing and know you’re not alone… This is the game we have chosen.

I am running four on line resell stores on top of my daily posts, keeping up with social media to promote all my work and advertise for the stores and the new merch as well as continue to research and acquire new inventory to add to my stores on the regular. It is a constant hustle… In order to maintain such things on this level, there has got to be a rhythm and a constant flow to your game. You gotta keep ya game tight too.

Presently, I hit live auctions weekly as well as checking out silent auctions around town from time to time; gotta keep new product flowing in. Then I must take the new product and shine it up and have it looking as nice as possible, get it pictured, price it, and get it listed in the appropriate store. I then must plug my new items on social media wherever is reasonable to keep traffic flowing through the stores.

I’ve got to keep plugin’ on facebook and IG to keep more people taking notice of my ever growing brand.

On top of all the hustle, probably the biggest challenge is to keep things fresh and poppin’, Part of the job requirement to grow in this biz is to be creative with a high level of fluidity. The creativity must continue to pour out without ceasing and know no ends.

This is only a peek into what it is I do… I still have business consulting, coaching, emails, phone calls, money management, investments…

Truth is, I wouldn’t trade what I am doing for anything… I love what I do. I love being my own boss and building something great for my family. This is such a beautiful thing, and I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve got and where we’re going. The key is though…why am I doing all of this… not for fame and glory… although I do love the glory of the game… I do this for my family, and more often than not, moments need to be taken to spend time with my family. I also have other obligations for to my family; simple things that I need to do to take care of them…

Be sure you take a moment or two to ask you family or maybe just some friends…”Where the roses at, Yo!?

You know you’ve heard it before… and the person who said it to you will swear that it is a real thing and will explain that this is their method… False.

That mess is just that… a mess. Plain and simple, there is no organized chaos in business… A successful business although it may seem chaotic at times to someone on the outside, it is strategic and calculated… otherwise, it won’t ever reach it’s potential. Are you trying to do just what you gotta do to get some cheddar in your pocket or are you trying to build something viable, something strong, something great… You notice there is no question mark at the end of that question because it isn’t really a question. If it was, you wouldn’t be reading this.
My uncle is a man who is quite skilled at what he does. He has a reselling business and is quite the hustler. He is so good and hustlin’ and countin’ his bag, he doesn’t realize that his bag is much lighter than it should be. Don’t get me wrong; of all the people I have known doing this type of work, he is close to the top when you are considering sales… but is he efficient… is he making the most of his bankroll… he truly isn’t. He has endless potential with the skill set that he has in this market. He just won’t tap into it because he claims he loves the organized chaos. He keeps everything in disarray and no rhyme or reason to any of it… not his inventory, not the photos log for his inventory, an overflowing email box, and you wouldn’t be able to find anything on his desk… Now he will claim that he can find anything he needs and that the idea is that he doesn’t want anyone else to find anything… What would they be looking for?… He embraces the organized chaos theory, and this is why he is still doing what he is doing which he is very good at, but he has dreams of doing so much more… Who knows if he will make it there…

Years ago, I used to sling hash… for those who don’t know, I was the head cook for four years in a great kitchen. I loved it. It was fun, it was busy… I love to cook and love moving fast. It was a fun adventure in my life while it lasted… Well, point is I remember a phrase that I would here around the kitchen and have heard in many kitchens since then. “A dirty cook is a working cook.” Total nonsense. You do not just get dirty because you are hustlin’. They had mostly red aprons and some white aprons in the kitchen I worked in. Most people preferred the red because it would take longer before you’d notice the grime… Not me nor my homeboys, Poncho and Everisto… We rocked the white shirts with black slacks and just thought the white aprons looked tight. We had to look as cool as we could… I’ll tell you right now that the three of us never really had a problem keeping clean. None of us really liked to be dirty and we were slingin hash in a kitchen that was pretty busy… all the other cooks just got so dirty… When a manager or someone would justify their filth with the phrase, “a dirty cook is a working cook.” Yeah, we never really appreciated that. We were definitely not dirty, and I’ll tell you… myself included, you won’t find a cook elsewhere that hustled like we did… no question. At the end of the night, we were still lookin’ so fresh and so clean. Haha

What it is ladies and gentlemen… It is excuses. Anyone who is falling short of the glory they should be reaching will have plenty of excuses why opposed to realizing that they should be doing it differently.

It starts with pride… whether you are an entrepreneur or not… you need to take some pride in your work. Whether you are slingin’ hash, flippin’ a burger, mopping a floor, or building your own empire… take some pride in it and do it well. Some of you will read this and think it silly to take pride in mopping a floor… Do the best possible job you can so one day you will not be mopping that floor. Take pride in your work. At the end of the day, be proud knowing that your work is a representation of you to others. And if you are an entrepreneur, everything you do reflects to the success of your business as does the success of your business reflect on you. It is a cycle. Be proud and embrace that cycle.

‘nough said… Get Cocky.

I strongly encourage diversification…if you know me, you know this… with that being said, you have to earn it first.

By diversification, the idea is to get multiple forms of business going and get the cash flowing in. This is awesome…like I said, I encourage this… but I also said… Earn it.

You’ve got to earn the right to spread that dough out… You’ve got to bring in that cheddar you want to throw around. It’s just that simple.

Okay… maybe it’s not that simple… the idea is that you need more than steady cash flow. You need substantial reliable steady cash flow with longevity. The money needs to be coming in and it needs to be significant. The idea is that you must have enough money coming to pay the bills and then some.

You need to get paid! This refers to you… your person… So many get their business going and put everything back into the business to keep it afloat and then try to make ends meet elsewhere… this is not the plan. Make sure you are getting paid. You must survive or how will your business survive without you… Next, you have a business that needs you attention and needs an influx of revenue to keep it running… no matter what kind of business it is that you are running, it needs money.
Okay… so, take care of yourself, your business, and then you need a significant additional revenue coming in that is flex cash… money you can afford to throw around a bit. I say that very loosely because no money is money that can be thrown around if you have any intentions of being wealthy. We will get into that another day… You want to be rich, think rich. For today, we will focus on keeping your eye on the prize.

You need to generate a substantial bank roll so you can keep your business growing bigger and bigger… give it a little time and when you’ve got it to develop into a sustainable business as well as the cash cow you desire it to be, we’ll talk about diversification. For now, focus on what you’ve got and give your all to it!

Get Cocky and Get There.

What does your lifestyle look like? You heard the phrase, “dress for the job you want, not for the job you have.” Let’s take that principle to a whole new level. You should be living the life you want, not the life you have…unfortunately, far too many people are doing this because they don’t really grasp the full scope of the principle.

You want to be rich and successful, live like you’re rich…

Okay…now, let’s dive into that…
You have to cherry pick the characteristics that help to get you to that level of wealth opposed to flaunting wealth you do not yet have. Some wealthy are just lucky… they have been born into it or inherited it or something… but many of the wealthy have become wealthy based on wise decision or success with a particular skill… The key is not where they gain their wealth but how they keep it.

The money you make, whether big or small, must be handled carefully. Far too often, people who are making less money are less careful with their money. If you are making more and a problem arises, you are more likely to be able to handle it. While when you are making less money, you have a higher likeliness of facing a struggle. The sad fact is that although, the wealthy can potentially handle said problem with more ease, they still are more careful when counting their dollars. You need to learn now to be careful with your money. You must be mindful of your spending and spend each dollar with intent now while you have less of those dollars so your bank roll can continue to grow.

You need not live a life of luxury… You aren’t there yet. Do not live beyond your means. That isn’t wise nor will it give you the wealth you are seeking and the wealth you deserve.

Make wise choices with your money. There was an employer that I worked for years ago that had the most perfect mind for money. He always seemed to know when it was time to cut his losses, invest in new areas… he saw the value in things that weren’t inventory such as an atmosphere in his stores, a basic comfortable moral amongst his staff, investments in the city around him by being involved in charities and working with many organizations around the city. He also operated under the mindset that it didn’t matter whether he spent $5 or $50, he wanted his money worth. There was an incident in which he had offered the staff a generous meal that was catered but the staff was stuck taking turns as they could not neglect their post tending to customers. As things were running a little behind, he politely requested that they give him an extra 30 minutes to ensure everyone got to eat… He offered them another $50 for 30 minutes. They politely agreed only to remain moody for that last 30 minutes and rush the last few people. Needless to say, he was frustrated at the idea that he had paid extra for his staff to be cared for only to have his staff somewhat snubbed and they didn’t stay for the full 30 minutes. As long as I have known this man, he is a man of principle a man who was going to get what he pays for… no matter how big or small. It isn’t about the money… but more the principle. For this discussion, I want you to focus on the money…

The point here is that every dollar should matter. I have had friends even family members who I watched live paycheck to paycheck. I also watched them go to the store and buy things they didn’t need and say, “ahhh…It’s only a dollar.” You say it’s only a dollar ten times, that’s $10; do that every week or every few days, that’s a lot of dollars tossed away.

I’ve watched friends go to concert after concert only to be wondering how to get gas money the day before payday. Years ago, I had a roommate that would get paid Friday; by Monday, he was trying to figure out how to make it through the week. The idea is simple… each dollar should matter.

If the dollars matter now while you have less of them, you will be much better equipped to manager your business as it grows. You will have lots of responsibilities that are all dependent upon your ability to manage things well.

You’ve got your whole life to party and go to concerts and whatever else it is that you’re spending your money on. The most important key you can take away from wealthy people about staying wealthy is to focus your attention on your business, investing, and watching your dollars. They can’t disappear if you’ve got your eye on them.

There is a great photo of Jay-Z when he had $600,000 listed as his net worth…. He was just getting started building himself and his brand. He was wearing a sweater and three enormous gold chains; the cost of each was probably quite ridiculous along with several large rings on his fingers… There is a later picture of him when his net worth is listed around 5 billion… he is wearing a long sleeve shirt with a single thin gold necklace and no other jewelry. He stopped focusing on the appearance of wealth and redirected his attention to actual wealth. He is known for spending money… But that is no longer his focus as it was when he was young. Learn from this. Focus on building your wealth, not appearing wealthy.

A lot of my instructions or advice are straight forward. I tell this is what should be happening and this how it should be happening… Some may get the impression that I believe these should be easy things to do…
Do not get it twisted… None of this comes easy. It isn’t meant to come easy.

We live in a Capitalistic country that is a country of freedom…not everyone still believes in these ideas but it is all true. This is the land of opportunity and the land of the free. So, what is the problem… We are country with over 300 million people. That is 300 million competitors. You must come up with an idea that you can deliver better than all of those… or at the very least, in a brand-new way. This is something that statistically seems improbable. I am a man who believes there is nothing impossible; I believe that stems from my Momma’s teachings. She always told me that I could do anything. I remember when I was a kid, the word “can’t” was a bad word and wasn’t allowed in my house.

The things that is best working in all of our favor is that we were all created uniquely different. You think differently than you r neighbor and this is your advantage which is also his/her advantage. You have the unique ability to reach certain people that they never could even though they may cross the same paths you do… as do they have that same advantage. It seems like a silly concept and almost a long shot to bank on… Do you know how many motivational speakers there are out there? Do you know how many there are right here n the city of Austin, TX? Do you realize how many people can cook, manage a business, crunch numbers, analyze data, organize an event, DJ a party??? There are so many people already doing the thing that you want to do…why would you have a shot at making it happen? There are so many, and there is a reason some of them get called while others do not. There is a reason why some of them are requested by certain groups or crowds. There are reasons behind all of this. They all have the potential to be successful without stepping on each other’s toes because they are all different. Find what you are about to embark upon…. if you haven’t done so already. Then find your difference. Find what sets you apart. What makes you different. You can only keep up an appearance for so long… so look towards your inner self to find what that difference is.

The transition into entrepreneurship isn’t an easy one because you are leaving everything you have known. You are walking away from a paycheck and venturing into the unknown. It will take a moment to develop your business and generate revenue. Even then, dependent upon the type of business you have gone into, you may have overhead and that overhead can absorb all your initial revenue. Don’t allow this to be discouragement. It isn’t going to come easy. If it was easy, everyone would do it.

Truth be told, everyone can do it…. But many will not put in the work. Don’t be one of the many. Get out there and fight for it. It is worth the fight… You are worth it. Remind yourself why you are doing this daily.

Get your business model and your game plan…. Initiate with confidence and strategy. You can get there. Don’t allow anything to stand in your way, but don’t expect it to be easy. You will have to fight for it.

When it comes to your dreams and ambitions, you shouldn’t have limits. It is unfortunate that this is something that must be said. Take a moment to truly take stock of what you are doing…what you want to be doing…where you are and where you want to be. These are the things that far too often are not contemplated fully. Take a moment…pffff…take longer…

This is a critical thing to think about and it needs ample time and attention. If you’re not going to give it the proper attention, no one else will either.

You are the one who holds the key to your own future and your own fate in your hands. If you are unhappy in your station, it is because you have allowed yourself to be pinned there. Whether it be by your own need to pay bills, need for a sense of security, or feelings of guilt or obligation to your job or station.

First and foremost, your obligation is to your spouse and children…. if you are single, then your obligation is to yourself. No matter how nice or friendly your boss or coworkers are, at the end of the day, their obligation is to their families or to themselves. You owe no one to stay in your station. You have every right to purse whatever station is going to make you the happiest. We spend far too much time at our jobs, for it to not be the passion that drives us to be there. If you are driven by passion or conviction of purpose, then embrace your job and love what you do. If not, seek happiness elsewhere.

Secondly, money can always be made, and it can be made in so many ways. You need not feel obligated to stay in a spot in which you find no joy simply because of a need to earn a paycheck; this is not the way things were intended to be for us.

What it boils down to is you finding what it is you want out of life. You only get one chance to live it, let’s not waste it. Figure out what it is you want to be doing and let’s get there already…or at the very least, let’s take some steps to get there. Don’t waste another minute not seeking what you want. And be sure to go big…why settle?…that’s what you’ve already been doing. It is time now to go get it.

Some backstory…

The time is now… I have been running my own business for years now… Since 2004, I have run and owned multiple different businesses. It is a beautiful thing to work for one’s self. It is very freeing, but it must be taken seriously because it rests on you just how successful you can or will be. I have worked very hard while I was going through school at the University of Texas and trying to be a strong influence for my daughter. All these things in themselves take a significant amount of dedication and determination. You must fully commit. I was fully committing to them all…sometimes when you over commit, it is your own body, mind, and soul that suffers a little…. sometimes more than a little. I gave all I had all the time. It was important…It all was important. I wanted to be my own boss. I wanted to be a good dad. I wanted to further my education because I had dreams of being a great psychologist one day.

I made deals and became partners with multiple people on several different business ventures throughout the years…. many of them were less fruitful than had been anticipated. Sadly, the ones that bore the most fruit, were with the wrong people and business fizzled out because of lack of ambition and drive. I have made money, lost money, and learned more than I ever thought I would have. I have built businesses only to watch them crumble…I am a new person with a new vision and a whole lot of wisdom and passion driving me now. I am taking my company, Bayless Enterprises, in a new direction.

Some experience…

I have helped build multiple businesses, some were mine, some were for others. I have helped coach people to their potential success in business as well as their personal lives. I have a background in psychology as that was a passion of mine since I was a high school student and began reading many books and continued to learn more and more about why we are the way we are and why we think the way we do. It has been quite the journey, and that journey is far from over. I have written and analyzed aspects of business as well as behavior for years now. These things are all things I have had a passion for. I have learned how to sync them all together as they truly feed off one another.

The future…

I am looking forward to a new era with Bayless Enterprises beginning here and now in 2019. I want to not only redirect my own success but reach out to others and help them reach their full potential and reach for something greater than what they have. We were not meant to settle for mediocrity. We all have the potential for greatness. We just must be willing to tap into that special something that we have a passion for and the drive and determination to continue to strive for it until we reach it…and then reach for more.

I had a friend ask me one day, “If we are living the dream today, what are we going to do tomorrow?”

I simply responded, “I’m a good ‘ol Texas boy. You go home tonight and dream bigger.”

It can always get bigger…Never settle. Join me my friends…. we can all learn a few things from each other.

All in all…I leave you with two words…. Get Cocky
